I am a native of West Virginia, but moved to Florida at the age of four. I attended school in Lake Worth, FL for seven years. I moved to Jackson, TN, and attended junior high school there, before moving back to Sarasota, FL, for high school. After one more move, I graduated from Seminole High School and received an A.A. Degree from St. Petersburg Junior College. I then attended UF to study Journalism. I worked as an Account Manager/Media Buyer for a local advertising agency and was an Account Executive in Retail Advertising for the St. Petersburg Times for seven years. After having a daughter, and reading a book called, “Turnabout Children” by Mary McCracken, I decided to pursue a teaching degree at USF’s Bayboro campus. I graduated in 1993 with a Bachelor of Science in Specific Learning Disabilities Education. I taught ESE and Advanced Language Arts at Palm Harbor Middle School for nine years. When my daughter was entering high school, I transferred to Clearwater High School and taught another three years. At Clearwater, in addition to my regular classes, I taught Extended Learning and FCAT prep classes. I have been a Clinical Educator for USF’s ESE teachers in training, and have over nine years experience coaching cheerleading. Prior to coming to Enterprise High, I worked in branch management with SunTrust Bank for eight years. A few years ago, I decided my “heart” was really in the education field, and was lucky enough to be hired at Enterprise High.
